Almost Done

We’ve made it to our 6th and final whole week of the building season; and we’ve come a long way!

Each team has kept up their spirits and continued to work hard. We are putting the finishing touches on the robot! Members are working outside of their assigned teams to help get other things done (yay teamwork!). More good news is that by changing the wheel mounts, we’ve shaved five pounds off the robot. Nice!

The building season is almost over, and supposedly people work better under pressure, so let finish this robot!

*Just a reminder, there are no more building days on Thursdays. To make up for this, there will a practice on Friday instead!

February 7 Update

Team 2207 is on the road to success! We have completed many of the stepping stones needed to build a conquering robot. The motors and wheels have been mounted, as well as the lifting arm. Bumpers are being put together and will be ready to mount in a couple days. Meanwhile, the design team is working to wrap up the the ball collector mechanism and prepare it for mounting. As for the programming and electrical teams, they continue to develop new ways of directing the robot and have recently decided on the control mechanism. They have also built and set up encoders and limit switch cables. ‘CAD’ing the robot is the responsibility of three members, and they have kept it updated since the very beginning. The team’s T-shirts are being ordered and are expected to be here in a couple of weeks. The team has made lots of accomplishments so far, keep it up!

1/28 Status Meeting

On Saturday morning, the team captains had a meeting to discuss their progress so far and their goals for the near future.

Electrical and programming teams have been working side by side so far this season. The robot is currently driveable and its camera is fully functioning.

Marketing has worked hard on the website and hope to submit it for the Website Award that FIRST offers. They have also finalized the t-shirt design and sent it to the printers! The team is now starting to look into light bulb sales.

Design Team has made a prototyped arm. They are finalizing a ball collector design, as well as completing the design for the robot.

Mechanical has been working with the 8″ mechanum wheels. They have constructed a chassis and are working towards mounting the wheels, gear boxes, etc.

CAD team has completed CADing our current robot design.

Week One DOWN!

Congrats! We’ve survived Week One.

We accomplished a lot in the past week :)

First, we decided how we wanted to play the game and rated all the aspects by importance on a scale of 0-3. Based off our ratings, we brainstormed lots of ideas for robots. Everyone has been working together to figure out which designs are manageable and which aren’t, coming from the view points of all the teams. Then we narrowed down the designs ideas to which ones best suit our needs of playing offensively. The design team is starting to mock up prototypes.

Plus, we’ve had fun playing with the game pieces ;)

Keep up the good work Team 2207!
