About Team 2207
We are FRC team #2207. We are a fourth-year team from White Bear Lake, Minnesota, and we compete in the FIRST Robotics Competition. Our team name, Prime 329, is derived from our assigned FRC team number. We discovered that our number, 2207, was the 329th prime number, and decided to celebrate this fact and our love of math by proudly declaring it as our team name.
Our team began in the 2007 season as a handful of excited White Bear Lake Area High School students and a couple mentors from Medtronic. When we joined FIRST, we had no idea what to expect. We competed in the Wisconsin Regional in 2007, playing the game Rack 'n' Roll. Our robot did fairly well in competition, and we were ranked as high as 5th place out of 51 teams. Unfortunately, we lost our last qualification matches and slipped to 24th place. We learned a great deal from our rookie year, and we were excited to take what we had learned and apply it to competition the next year.
In 2008, we competed in the newly created Minnesota Regional at the University of Minnesota, playing the game Overdrive. We were chosen by team 2232, Deus ex Machina from Anoka, Minnesota, to play in the elimination rounds. We were quarterfinalists at this event and we were excited and very appreciative of the opportunity to play in the elimination rounds. We also won the Website Excellence Award this year, and we showed our robot at the Minnesota State Fair. We won 4 ribbons, and we placed 3rd in the miniature competition at the Fair.
By 2009, FIRST had grown so large in Minnesota that a second Minnesota regional event had to be added. We competed at the Minnesota Northstar Regional, playing the game Lunacy. Team 2491, No Mythic from St. Paul, Minnesota, selected us to be in the elimination rounds. We lost in the quarterfinals, but we were thankful to be able to participate in the elimination matches again. We also won the Website Excellence Award again this year, and we won Honorable Mention for the Safety Award as well.
Our team has come a long way and gained a great deal of experience since our rookie year. Our team has grown from a small group of students to more than 30 enthusiastic individuals, and we have become a well-recognized part of our school and our community. While building our robot for the competition, and during the off-season, we are excited to learn science, engineering, and technology skills by working with other students as well as our mentors. We just finished the build season for the 2010 competition, Breakaway, and shipped our robot to the competition. We will be competing at the Minnesota Northstar Regional on April 1-3, 2010.
